E-commerce SEO and AI search for Australian stores

Search is the channel that gets cheaper the longer you do it properly. We fix the technical side of the store, build the collection and product pages people actually search for, and write the answers Google and AI assistants quote.

And when you change platforms, we make sure the rankings you've already earned come with you.

Where rankings come from

Where store rankings come from.

Most e-commerce SEO isn't blogging. It's making the pages that already sell, your collections and products, easy for Google to understand and worth clicking when they show up.

  • Technical fixes

Indexing, duplicate product URLs from Shopify's collection paths, filter pages that shouldn't rank, broken links and phone load speed. The boring stuff that quietly caps everything else.

  • Collection pages

These rank for category searches, so they get a written intro, sensible filters, links to related collections and a short FAQ where buyers need one.

  • Product pages

Titles in the words people search, specs and ingredients as real text on the page, reviews under the buy button, and product schema so price, stock and ratings can show in results.

  • Guides that answer questions

Written for what buyers type before they're ready to buy, and each one links to the product or collection that solves it.

  • A clean product feed

Accurate titles, barcodes (GTINs) and categories in Merchant Center for Google's free listings. The same feed powers Shopping ads.

  • Search Console, monthly

Clicks, impressions and positions for the pages that make money, reported in plain words with what we're doing next.

Platform migrations

Changing platforms without losing Google.

A new store can wipe out years of rankings in a weekend if the old URLs just die. Every product, collection and page Google knows about needs a new home and a permanent redirect to it.

  1. Before the build

    Crawl the old site

Every URL Google has indexed, plus the ones other sites link to.

  2. During the build

    Map one to one

Each old URL goes to its closest new page. Nothing gets dumped on the home page.

  3. Launch day

    Redirects live, then tested

Every old URL checked for a single, clean permanent redirect.

  4. The weeks after

    Watch Search Console

Crawl errors and dropped pages fixed as they show up.

AI search

Getting quoted when people ask AI what to buy.

More buyers now ask ChatGPT, Gemini or Google's AI answers before they search the normal way. Those tools lean on pages that say things clearly: what the product is, who it's for, what it costs and how long delivery takes.

Nobody can promise an AI tool will recommend your store. What we can do is make your store the clearest source on its subject, which is also what Google has always rewarded.

  • Answer-first copy on collections, guides and FAQs, with the answer in the first two sentences.
  • FAQ and product schema that match what's actually on the page.
  • Shipping, returns and warranty written out on the page as text a crawler can read.
  • Australian detail spelled out: GST-inclusive prices, delivery times, local standards.
  • Guides built on real numbers from real accounts, the kind other sites link to. Our own resources follow the same rules.

The proof we have

Our clearest search work so far is a builder's site.

We won't claim ranking gains for an online store until we can show you the Search Console chart. The stores we've moved are too recent to call.

The best example we have is from our construction practice. Murphy Constructions' new website put two decades of projects online for the first time, which gave Google real, specific content to rank. Collection and product pages work the same way when they're written with that kind of detail.

Straight answers

What store owners ask about SEO.

Anything else, call Jed on 0400 463 257.

How long does e-commerce SEO take to work?

Technical fixes and redirect repairs can show up within weeks, because they remove something that was holding the store back. New collection pages and guides usually take a few months to settle. Your Scaling Roadmap says which of those you're dealing with before you spend anything.

Do collection pages really need written content?

Yes, a short intro and a few answers. It gives Google something to rank for the category search, and it helps a buyer choose. We keep it short so the products stay up top.

Is Shopify good for SEO?

Yes, with a few quirks we fix on every build: duplicate product URLs inside collections, thin collection pages, and apps that slow the store down on a phone. None of it is hard once you know where to look.

What is AI search optimisation, and do I need it?

It means making sure tools like ChatGPT and Google's AI answers can find, understand and quote your store. For most stores it's the same work as good SEO: clear answers, clean product data and schema that matches the page.

Do you write blog posts?

Only ones that earn their keep. We write guides that answer what buyers ask before they're ready to buy, and each one links to the product or collection it's about. Posting for the sake of a content calendar doesn't move rankings.

Do you do link building?

We don't buy links. We'd rather build things people want to link to, like a useful guide or a free tool. Our own break-even ROAS calculator is an example of the kind of page that earns them.
